The opening round of the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship occurred on the weekend for the Australian Grand Prix held at Albert Park, Melbourne. I of course went for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday proceedings. I took the nice camera, but had never played around with the manual settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO setting, etc.). I had a basic understanding of how changing each differed the type of image you got, but I was really interesting in seeing what the effect was and how I could use the settings to get some cool shots.
The results are below, and given my lack of photography skills (and therefore my naivety), I am pretty happy with the results!
Porsche Carrera Cup, on approach to Turn 5
Albert Park is very hard for photos, as the entire circuit is covered in catch fencing, so getting photos without it are limited to the official photographers who are right next to the circuit peering out of little holes in the fence. I tried to get that awesome blurry effect but Formula 1 cars are just so dang fast to get absolutely right!
